Machine Cycling Café

A great local bike shop and coffee shop. Always super friendly and helpful. I've bought chains, lights and various bike stuff here - they have a really decent range and they ordered in a helmet for me when it wasn't one they stocked. The owner/mechanic fixed a broken spoke and trued my wheel on the spot when I was in a hurry to get to a meeting across town. Also the coffee and cakes are some of the best in London - consistently excellent. A great bunch of people, I'm happy to be able to support an independent business like this in London.

Having not serviced my bike since I bought it in 2016, it was beginning to show the wear and tear of use. After checking reviews I dropped in post-ride on a Saturday to book it in for a service expecting to have to bring it back in a few days. After an initial chat about condition, niggles I'd noticed and checks, the bike was taken immediately in for repairs with no pre-booking. The only condition was that it wouldn't be ready until mid-week which wasn't an issue for me I was asked how much I wanted to spend on parts and shown a range of differing prices. No pressure was made on getting work done immediately if it could hold out for a little longer. My D lock was tightened back up and it had the good clean it definitely needed. Would definitely recommend and as it's only around the corner I'll be using it again.

Brixton Cycles

296-298 Brixton Rd, London SW9 6AG, UK – 020 7733 6055

Really impressed with the friendly, professional service here. As a very new cyclist I was given lots of advice on how to adjust my bike for maximum comfort! I’ll definitely stick with this place 👍🏻

Amazing place! I’ve been going here since they moved to the new premises on Brixton Road. Super friendly, helpful service and never judgemental or intimidating. Got my bicycle serviced and it’s back to feeling as good as new. The person who served me explained everything that had been done to my bike. They also have lots of great merch which is super good for gifting. I found out recently that they also run bike maintenance classes for women and queers as well as free bike checks on Wednesday mornings which made me feel really happy and invested in the business. Go there and support an independent business/workers co op that really gives back to the community

Herne Hill Bicycles

Nice guys. Great knowledge. Good stock. The best place in the local area for sure.

Had a puncture emergency on the way to work at 8:15 (45 mins before opening time). Tapped on the (closed) window and Ron kindly opened up and sold me an inner tube. After seeing the state of my front tyre he then advised I buy a new tyre which I did. I then asked if I could change it (myself) in the shop and he VERY kindly said he’d do it for me. 5 mins later I had a changed inner tube and new tyre and was back on the road. My sincere thanks to Ron (and Herne Hill Bicycles).

London Bicycle Tour Company

74 Kennington Rd, Kennington, London SE11 6NL, UK – 020 7928 6838

I did the Love London tour and really enjoyed it! Ollie was our tour guide and he was knowledgeable and entertaining. I am a cyclist in the states but have never cycled in such a busy city - you will go through some heavy traffic areas and busy pedestrian areas so I wouldn’t recommend this tour for young kids. Overall it was fantastic and I got to see many great sights in a London!

Zelda was great! Our tour was delayed by viewing all the events of the 100th Anniversary of the RAF at Buckingham Palace. Saw the 100 aircraft flyby Trafalgar Square and even the Queen!! We volunteered to make up some time on the return, but Zelda couldn't resist stopping and showing us each sight, even though we were about 1.5 hours delayed. Thank you so much for the highlight of our London trip.

Tally Ho! Cycle Tours

213 Carlisle Ln, Lambeth, London SE1 7LH, UK – 07969 230828

Tally Ho bike tour was one of the highlights of a 2 week UK tour. We regularly take bike tours or rent bikes when we arrive in a new city. Our guide Tristan was a great story teller, knew all the right spots, and also how to quickly and safely get us there. You can also tell within minutes that Tristan likes his job, loves history, and enjoys teaching others why London is a great city. The bikes were sweet and when you come across other people on other bike tours, the BIKE ENVY from them is obvious. Tristan was also willing to shape our tour towards what we wanted which was a some good history, nice photo opps, then a couple of nice pubs for a cool beer. (we were there for the hottest day on record in London for July - ever) We left our Tally-Ho tour with new friends and a great appreciation for a big city that now felt more like a place we knew.

Definitely worth all money! We had a very fun, knowledgeable, experienced and friendly guide. Very comfortable bikes too! The route was really nice, showing us different neighborhoods/highlights/hidden spots and a really nice pub for a break.
